A wire armature found at Ross forms the base for this high relief sculptural mosaic inspired by Julie Richey's "Night Shirt," which won the Juror's Choice at the 2009 Society of American Artists' Conference.
I covered the wire frame with metal mesh and thinset, creating folds. Italian and Mexican glass smalti and 24 karat gold tesserae depict a night sky with clouds and stars. The sculpture can be placed on a flat surface or hung by its hanger.
I teach at the Santa Barbara School of Mosaic Art.
