Three bronze artifacts from an underwater excavation of Cleopatra's palace off of Alexandria, Egypt; a 4000 year old bronze Afghan mirror; tiny terracotta oil lamp and amphora; IV and V Century Roman coins and other fragments from ancient sites are strewn across an abandoned museum floor whose pattern is based on an VIII Century B.C. pebble mosaic floor at Gordium in Phrygia (now Turkey). We see here the detritus and bric-a-brac that people leave over the centuries, asking: is that all that is left of them? The artist responded to the looting of the Baghdad museum after the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
